Architecture-based development environments such
as Interactive Objects' ArcStyler® have become an absolute prerequisite
in professional software development. Interactive Objects has now
received a European patent for ArcStyler's Verifier Framework which
confirms the company's unique software engineering approach and
is yet another evidence of ArcStyler's leading edge as an architectural
IDE within the framework of the OMG's Model Driven Architecture
Freiburg, April 04, 2002.
Advanced IT-architectural development environments such as the ArcStyler
combine a whole range of individual tools which support all stages
of the development process from requirements analysis and assessment
all the way to the automatic generation of the runtime infrastructure.
In traditional development approaches, errors often go unnoticed
from one design stage to the next. Such errors are magnified when
used as the basis for further design steps and can significantly
impact the effectiveness and cost of development. Even in highly
integrated development environments, the verification functions
of each separate tool are primarily concerned with those aspects
of the system processed with that particular tool. In most cases,
any particular tool within such a chain is unaware of the functionality
of the next tool in the process so that verification is either impossible
or results in proprietary technologies and/or repositories.
ArcStyler's Verifier Framework solves this problem by providing
a system for automatic model verification across all tools and components
used along the chain of model-to-model and model-to-code transformation.
Rules and patterns for verifying the quality of a system design
are formulated and combined in an open XML repository to reflect,
for example, the constraints and requirements of a given design
step, a particular automatic transformation step or a particular
implementation platform. The verifier then uses this information
for automatic, bi-directional verification of the entire design
at any time, independently of a particular tool and in almost any
All rules are formulated in a completely open XML format, i.e. no
proprietary 'blackboxes' are introduced into the development process.
At the same time, this ensures maximum flexibility, customizability,
quality and development speed across entire organizations. There
is no need to manually document, manage and perform the individual
quality checks in model-to-model and model-to-code transformations
as the open ArcStyler Verifier Framework automatically takes care
of these tedious and error-prone tasks, thus ensuring high reliability
and architectural integrity across all projects.
About Interactive Objects Software
Interactive Objects Software GmbH, founded in 1990, has built
a solid reputation as a front-runner in the field of IT architecture
by consistently delivering award-winning architectural platforms
and services to global industry leaders. In 2000, Interactive
Objects introduced the ArcStyler architectural platform. The ArcStyler
is an Architectural DIE which supports Model Driven Architecture
(MDA) as standardized by the Object Management Group (OMG). The
ArcStyler supports UML-driven development of complete four-tier
J2EE/EJB systems and Web Services for the leading application
servers. The ArcStyler maintains a clear focus on adding architectural
value by complementing best-of-breed tools such as Rational Rose
and JBuilder, instead of competing with them. Not only does the
ArcStyler boast a rapidly growing list of repeat customers (leaders
in the financial services, telecommunications, manufacturing industries
and public sector), it is also the winner of numerous national
and international awards.
