Freiburg, April 04, 2002.
The Central IT Services Division RZF, one of the major IT organizations
of the German federal governments, is a modern IT services body
responsible for the IT support of more than 34,000 users in the
Financial Administration of the German state of North Rhine Westphalia.
Within the framework of a pilot project, the IT Architecture Department
of the RFZ scanned the market for a development environment which
would enable the implementation of highly complex applications in
EJB/J2EE environments. The objective of the RZF project is the comprehensive
IT management and support of all training and education facilities
of the Financial Administration in the state of North Rhine Westphalia.
The RZF carefully evaluated a number of systems and chose Interactive
Objects' ArcStyler, a comprehensive architectural IDE. "The
main goal of our department is to align methods and tools in software
engineering in such a way as to get the maximum benefit of tools
in terms of time-to-deployment," says Wolfgang Fleischer, project
manager and IT architect at the RZF. "With the ArcStyler, we
are to happy to have found a tool that offers such benefits for
a number of reasons. These comprise the flexibility, the architectural
approach and the comprehensive code generation features."
In addition to the ArcStyler, the RZF uses the Borland Application
Server, an Oracle database and Borland JBuilder - a combination
of tools and systems that is becoming increasingly popular. The
first RZF projects are scheduled for release in fall 2002.
